MoDCS receives professor Luis Gomes

The MoDCS research group received in the last September 06 the visit of Luis Gomes, Professor by Faculty of Sciences and Technology from New University of Lisbon. He is coordinator of GRES – R&D Group on Reconfigurable and Embedded Systems (http://www.uninova.pt/gres/).

Short biography:

Luís Gomes is Associate Professor at the Electrical Engineering Department of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal and a researcher at UNINOVA Institute, Portugal. From 1984 to 1987, he was with EID, a Portuguese medium enterprise in the area of electronic system design, in the R&D engineering department. His main interests include the usage of formal methods for embedded systems co-design, like Petri nets and other concurrency models, emphasizing reconfigurable devices and System-on-a-Programmable-Chip based implementations. He served as General Co-Chair for SIES’2007 Int. Symposium on Industrial Embedded Systems and ETFA’2003 IEEE Int. Conf. on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (among other events) and organizer of ATPN’98 Int. Conf. on Application and Theory of Petri nets (among other events). Between 2007 and 2008, Dr. Gomes has also served as the Steering Committee Chair of the Symposium on Industrial Embedded Systems (SIES).
